Genetic Analysis of Japanese Fritillaria

Abstract

The relationship between five Japanese endemic Fritillaria is investigated using sequence data of the intergenic spacer region trnT-trnL in chloroplast DNA. Two monophyletic groups are identified which correspond to the two different chromosome compliments previously recorded. The presence of parallel evolution in perianth section was confirmed but the taxonomic status of F. tokushimensis remains unresolved (in Japanese, English summary by Mami Sayo)
